Systematic evaluation for hydropower exploitation rationality in hydro-dominant area: A case study of Sichuan Province, China

Despite the considerable contribution of hydropower for meeting electricity demand and meanwhile achieving free carbon emission, rationality exploitation needs to be reassessed in context curtailment being severe some hydro-dominant areas. In this paper, a two-stage fuzzy-stochastic chance-constrained interval (TFCI) regional energy system optimization model under multiple complexities is developed systematically assessing existing plan, reflecting tradeoff between cost reliability Sichuan territory where exploitable resources rank first China. Results showed that degree overcapacity would become far more real structure planning. Instead continuously boosting exploitation, proper limitation on installed capacity expansion make other renewable obtain deserved promotion can effectively reduce improve utilization efficiency all technologies.
